Mechanisms driving component Allee effects during invasions: using a biological control agent as model invader

چکیده

1. A demographic Allee effect refers to increasing per capita population growth with abundance. It arises from component effects, which exist when some of individual fitness has a positive relationship density. Newly arrived populations tend be small, and their establishment success is influenced by various factors, including effects. Identifying mechanisms driving the relevance for understanding failure, developing strategies improving biological control conservation, managing invasions. 2. We utilised an invasive plant biocontrol agent, Neolema ogloblini , as model study effects experienced invading populations. investigated mating failure predator satiation two that could potentially drive in N. 3. released unmated adults onto isolated host patches using five release sizes evaluated status females after 3 weeks field. The probability being mated increased number males recovered increased, suggesting presence mating‐failure very small . Exclosures were used evaluate survival immatures group sizes, either or absence generalist predators. Results revealed high levels predation, but between larval size predators not verified. 4. Our identified relevant life‐history traits contributing demonstrates value agents models species invasion.

Exploiting Allee effects for managing biological invasions.

Biological invasions are a global and increasing threat to the function and diversity of ecosystems. Allee effects (positive density dependence) have been shown to play an important role in the establishment and spread of non-native species. Although Allee effects can be considered a bane in conservation efforts, they can be a benefit in attempts to manage non-native species. Many biological in...

Predicting Invasions: Propagule Pressure and the Gravity of Allee Effects

Invasions by nonindigenous species impose large environmental and economic costs. In order to prevent invasions and target monitoring efforts most effectively, we need to forecast locations at the greatest risk of new invasions. To accomplish this, we need to estimate propagule pressure (inoculum size) and consider population processes, including possible Allee effects. Here, we develop a metho...

A Component-Based Agent Model for Assessment of Driving Behaviour

This paper presents an ambient agent-based model that addresses the assessment of driving behaviour. In case of negative assessment, cruise control slows down and stops the car. The agent model has been formally specified in a component-based manner in the form of an executable specification that can be used for prototyping. A number of simulation experiments have been conducted. Moreover, dyna...

Production, quality control and biological evaluation of 153Sm-TTHMP as a possible bone palliation agent

Introduction: Various bone palliative therapeutic agents have been developed and widely used for bone metastasis such as 153Sm-EDTMP. In this study, production, quality control and biodistribution studies of a newly developed therapeutic compound have been presented followed by imaging studies in wild-type rodents. Methods: 153Sm-TTHMP was prepared starting from 153<...

Production, Quality Control and Biological Evaluation of 166Ho-PDTMP as a Possible Bone Palliation Agent

Objective(s):In this study, 166Ho-1,2-propylene di-amino tetra(methy1enephosphonicAcid) (166Ho-PDTMP) complex  was prepared as a bone palliation agent. Materials and Methods:The complex was successfully prepared using an in-house synthesized EDTMP ligand and 166HoCl3. Ho-166 chloride was obtained by thermal neutron irradiation (1 × 1013 n.cm-2.s-1) of natural Ho(NO3)3 samples  followed by radio...
